So you have decided to make your move to The Woodlands, Texas. I want to be the first one to welcome you to the area! It is a great place to live. In case you are relocating from another state, let me tell you a little about The Woodlands, and the rest of Texas, too.

Texas has about twenty three million people and the capital is in Austin. Our state is referred to as the Lone Star State. Did you know that Texas is made up of over 260,000 square miles? There’s a lot of land in our state! The Texas Bluebonnet is our state flower and the Bluebonnets bloom in the hill country between April and May. During that time of year you will see families stopped on the sides of the road to take pictures in the flowers. They don’t last but about a month, so you have to take them while you can. You can find some Bluebonnets in The Woodlands.

Everyone knows Texas is famous for their chili, but did you also know that the state tree is the Pecan Tree? I am from Georgia and I thought Georgia had more Pecan Trees than Texas! The state bird is the Mockingbird and the state song is “Texas, Our Texas.” There’s a lot of history in Texas. Six different flags have flown over this state.

As you travel around the state there are a lot of historical places to visit. One of my favorite is The Alamo. For recreation, there are fun places like Splashtown and Six Flags. The beach in Galveston is only an hour away from The Woodlands. There are many parks to visit, too. The highest point in Texas is Guadalupe Peak.

Of all the things there are to see and do and know about Texas, the people are by far the best. I love the relaxed atmosphere in Texas. The Houston Area is a wonderful area to relocate. The Woodlands is just north of Houston and convenient via I45 North or The Hardy Toll Road. It offers great shopping, wonderful cuisine, and fun places to visit. (more…)
