The annual economic output of Texas exceeds one trillion dollars and that number seems to be growing even in this economy. Texas is a huge state. Did you know that if the entire seven billion people in the world move to Texas there would be more than 1,100 square feet for every person on the planet. According to the 2010 Census, Texas had over 25 million residents. By 2030 Texas is stimated that it will grow to 40 million residents. It seems like everyone wants to move to Texas and join us! That can be compared to unloading four jumbo jets in Texas every day for the next 19 years. Apache Renews, Expands Post Oak Lease

HOUSTON (GlobeSt.com) – Apache Corporation has not only renewed its lease of 365,000 sf at the Post Oak Central office building in Houston’s uptown submarket, it has tacked on an additional 132,000 sf.

The oil company signed the lease renewal for five years beyond the expiration of its current lease, which originally was to end later this year.

This is another in a string of large commercial leases that have occurred in Houston over the last couple of months.

Last month, Noble Energy leased the 497,000-sf former Compaq headquarters in northwest Houston. In December, Shell Oil renewed its 1.2-million-sf lease at its downtown One Shell Plaza and Two Shell Plaza.

Cushman & Wakefield represented Apache in the lease negotiations. Crescent Real Estate Holdings represented the building owner.

New Home Construction: Texas Leads the Way

HOUSTON (Houston Business Journal) – Three Texas MSAs are among the
nation’s strongest when it comes to residential construction activity. In fact,
two of them lead the way in the value of private housing projects authorized
last year.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown had $4.17
billion in new residential projects in 2010, more than any other U.S. city.
Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington came in second with $3.87 billion.

Also cracking the top ten was Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos. With $1.29
billion in residential projects last year, the MSA ranked tenth.
