This is a great video that really showcases the arts in Houston. Art and Culture play a huge part in Downtown Houston. The museum district includes ballet, opera, symphony, and theater companies.

Within the 17-block Theater District, Houston Grand Opera, Alley Theatre, Houston Symphony and Houston Ballet has a large following for Grammy, Tony and Emmy award-winning performances.

Other area arts organizations include Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre, Society for the Performing Arts, Uniquely Houston, Da Camera and Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS), the nation’s largest nonprofit producer of musical theater. Outside Downtown, there are Main Street Theater and Stages Repertory Theatre.

Southwest of Downtown, in the pedestrian-friendly Museum District, more than 6.6 million annual visitors explore 19 cultural institutions.

H-Town offers 300,000 square feet of exhibition space dedicated to paintings, sculptures, costumes, photography and textiles dating to the antiquities. The nearby Contemporary Arts Museum celebrates postmodern artwork inside its distinctive stainless steel space.

For something different, visit Rice University’s Rice Gallery. The University of Houston’s Blaffer Art Museum rotates exhibitions of works by U.S. and international artists six to eight times per year.
