There are some subdivision that do not allow you to choose your electric provider . I presently live in Grand Lake Estates, and have the option to choose. This is a large benefit with the cost of electricity in today’s economy.

I would like to share my experience I have had with my electric company. I had a contract for a year with a locked in rate with Dynowatt . Everything went very smoothly, and then the contract expired. I went shopping and found another electric company that was offering better rates. I contracted with the new company. I found out there was a two week period before my new company could take over.

I received my electric bill from Dynowatt, and discovered my rate had more than doubled from the time when my contract had expired. I called Dynowatt and inquired into why my rate had increased so much. I was informed my contracted had expired, and that they would reduce my rate if I had not already signed up with a new company. Their customer service person was very disrespectful.

I hope my sharing this experience with you has been helpful. When you have a contract with a company for electricity, please pay close attention to the expiration day. Also be aware if the rate seems too good to be true, it probably is, and read the fine print.
