AUSTIN (Austin Business Journal) – RealtyTrac Inc. reported that Austin foreclosure filings were down 42.9 percent last month compared with last year.

“Foreclosure activity decreased on an annual basis for the seventh straight month in April, bringing foreclosure activity to a 40-month low,” said RealtyTrac CEO James Saccacio.

Some 644 homes entered the foreclosure process, down 14 percent from March. That’s about 1 out of every 1,040 homes in the area.

As a whole, Texas foreclosures dropped 33 percent from last year and 20.19 percent from March. Nationally, they were down 34 percent from last year and 9 percent from March.
