HOUSTON (Realtynewsreport.com) – Energy is big business in the Bayou City, so small wonder that Chevron U.S.A. has announced plans to beef up its office space as well as its workforce there.
The company plans to build a 50-story skyscraper downtown and hire an additional 1,752 employees. Chevron currently has about 9,000 employees and contractors in the area, reports the Houston Business Journal.
The 1.7 million-sf building will be at 1600 Louisiana St. at Pease. It will be part of an urban campus Chevron is creating downtown. The campus currently consists of two buildings — one at 1500 Louisiana, the other at 1400 Smith.
HOK is designing the new building.
In addition to Chevron’s new hires, the Greater Houston Partnership said the project will create 2,164 indrect jobs in the area.
