GALVESTON COUNTY (Associated Press) – Federal dollars are available to Galveston County residents needing help with post-Ike home repairs.
Nearly $100 million in federal grants are available from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, of which the Galveston County Housing Assistance Program expects to use about $15 million for administrative costs.
Residents can apply through the Recovery for Ike Survivors Enterprise, created by the state and managed by Lutheran Social Services and Catholic Charities.
Applications will be accepted from four outreach centers expected to open within the next week in Bacliff, Crystal Beach and Texas City and in the county courthouse.
