SAN ANTONIO (San Antonio Business Journal) – In spite of rising prices, Texas cities remain among the country’s most affordable housing markets.
The latest Home Listing Report (HLR) from Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC evaluated each state’s housing market, as well as 2,500 individual U.S. markets.
Texas made the list of top ten most affordable states. According to Coldwell Banker, a typical four-bedroom, two-bathroom home here lists for $186,144.
Terrell, a southeastern suburb of Dallas, was the most affordable city in the Lone Star State, ranking 17th overall.
Other Texas cities on the list were Lancaster (No. 31), Duncanville (No. 67), Heartland (No. 69), Kaufman (No. 71), Alvarado (No. 87) and Garland (No. 91).
The most expensive Texas city was Colleyville, with an average price of $289,192.
Overall, the most affordable housing market was Redford, Mich., with Nebraska taking the top spot as the most affordable state for housing.
At the other end of the spectrum, Los Altos, Calif., is the costliest housing market, where $1.7 million will buy a typical four-bedroom, two-bathroom house.
