SAN ANTONIO (San Antonio Business Journal) – Gov. Rick Perry signed two bills giving property tax relief to disabled veterans and certain military spouses. The bills will be on the November ballot.
Senate Bill 163 provides a 100 percent property tax exemption to spouses of active duty service members killed in action. The exemption would be claimable starting in the 2014 tax year.
House Bill 97 creates a property tax exemption for disabled veterans who reside in a home that was donated by a 501(c) organization. The exemption would be based on the veteran’s disability rating.
