Real estate think tank Robert Charles Lesser & Co. (RCLCO) lists the South Montgomery development among the nation’s 20 top-selling communities. In Houston, Woodforest is ranked No. 7 in 2012 new home sales on a list compiled by Metrostudy. Also, Woodforest is Montgomery County’s most active community, with more county building permits issued than any other development.
Builders sold 308 new homes in Woodforest last year, an increase of 139 percent over 2011. Builders also started construction on 299 homes in the community in 2012, an increase of 117 percent from the previous year.
Last year’s momentum is pushing forward into 2012, with several model home openings planned before summer, including Village Builders’ “Next Gen — a Home Within a Home” model that is designed for multigenerational living. It will be one of just a few Next Gen models throughout Houston. Construction crews are continuing work on Woodforest’s Forest Island pool complex, slated to open this summer, and a new Conroe ISD campus that will serve grades kindergarten through sixth when it opens in Woodforest in August 2014. Plus, the Lake Conroe Fire Department is finishing work on a new station house in Woodforest, with grand opening ceremonies planned for April 27.
