Houston Methodist Growing
THE WOODLANDS (Houston Business Journal) – Houston Methodist will build a new hospital here and a new inpatient tower at its current campus in the Texas Medical Center.
The Woodlands hospital will be at the intersection of SH 242 and I-45. It will contain 470,000 sf. Groundbreaking is scheduled for early 2015.
Costing $328 million, the project includes a 135,000-sf medical building, which will open in late 2015. The new full-service, acute-care hospital will deliver services similar to those available in the Texas Medical Center.
Meanwhile, the new inpatient tower at the Texas Medical Center will cost about $540 million. The tower will include 390 beds — with 102 intensive care beds — large operating suites, hybrid suites and a dedicated cardiology floor with 14 interventional catheterization labs. It will also have advanced heart and neurosurgery operating rooms.
Both projects are expected to be completed in 2017.
