Some Montgomery county residents may be concerned that the expansion of Texas 249, could displace homes and businesses. Montgomery County Commissioner Craig Doyal said “There are concerns about the project’s alignment with Grimes County.” The expansion of Texas 249 from FM 1774 in Pinehurst, through Magnolia and other areas of the county, will transform portions of Texas 249 into a six-lane tollway. This project will improve the flow of traffic as well as enhance safety in all the counties.
Approximately 690 acres will be needed for the project. There is no way of knowing yet how many properties will be affected through the right-of-way acquisition. Environmental studies are still being done for the project. The
