FORT WORTH (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) – North Texas existing home sales were still going strong last month.

Sales, which were at 9,291, increased 16 percent over August 2012 in the 29-county area. That was a drop of 106 from July.

Through August, 61,964 homes have been sold in the region this year, which is 20 percent more than the same period last year. The total is not far off from 2010, when 63,841 were sold.

Median sales price was $181,100, a 12 percent rise from August last year.

Homes spent 26 percent less time on the market (50 days). Pending sales were up 9 percent over last year, while active listings dropped 14 percent.
