5. Don’t give them any info over the phone – they should have it
6. Make all payments with a money order or certified funds
7. Keep records of mailings with return receipts
8. Get written confirmation of any negotiated payoffs
9. Wait for them to call back with a better offer – don’t take the first offer
10. Keep copies of your credit reports
